Epidemiology for Indianapolis
In 2019 in Indianapolis (Marion County):
- Young adults 20-34 are at the highest risk for HIV – they represent over half of new HIV cases in 20191
- Black residents are 6 times more likely than White residents to be diagnosed with HIV1
- Hispanic residents are 4 times more likely than White people to be diagnosed with HIV1
- Men having sex with men (MSM) are 70 times more likely than heterosexuals to be diagnosed with HIV1
- 13% (1 in 10) of PLWH (people living with HIV or AIDS) are undiagnosed or unaware of their status.3
- As many as 1 in 3 HIV+ men having sex with men (MSM) are unaware of their status2
