Tell me part of your story of living with HIV?

I was diagnosed with HIV in the spring of 1987 and have been undetectable since 1989. I have been living a healthy life with HIV since then. Also, having healthy relationships with HIV. My journey started when I was living in Montgomery, AL. when someone went to the health department for testing and was positive, and my name was given, and that is how it all started. There was no need to be upset about how I got it because I could have been more careful about my sexual activity with one night stands, and I was not, and the rest is history.

What would ending the HIV Epidemic mean to you?

It would be a relief for everyone in the world because no more pills to take at all.

What does U=U mean to you? How does it affect your life?

This would send a positive message to everyone who is living with this disease to take better care of themselves and take their medication because it works in longterm.

How long have you been undetectable?

35 years

Anything else I should know about you?

I am a veteran, 65, and proud to be LGBTQ+.
